the airplane vacant/occupied switch is like the sliding lock of the model you made...this could be considered at a larger scale... important that we all (re)scale our details appropriately... recall how we rescaled the details in first year joints back into the cube...
my idea was to use that mechanism as the screen changing btw reflecting the priest and reflecting the drunk. i also thought about one cell with 3 walls and a sliding net (the one you use for preventing small children to go towards staircases...) as a door. something that represents the physical accessability when its open but the net is extremly dense and the visual accessability when its closed and spaced out...i like that contrast.
