the model is interesting but you shouldn't be affraid of changing it a bit or rather add more layers of information to it. the comments that were made today were extremely important to get your idea through: democratics and republicans together in bed, the cross falling on top of the bed and cracks the bed...think of what does that mean in terms of breaking a religious believe....think about the bed and how it becomes unusable, untrusted, uncomfortable. also, think of how you want the audience to view it, you want them to walk underneath...why should they go there if not to reveal something that is not on the surface? the orientation of the bed as it is also suggests cover and hide...what is there to hide?
think about bringing something in from your diagram, with the rooster, poking the bed...
maybe underneath the bed there's an egg...the rooster can lay eggs but then again the priest doesnt exactly follow his instruction either....maybe its stupid and maybe its not but i think your diagram is intersting and you should add some of the information for clarification or just to make your point stronger.
i think the most important thing to do is to clarify which joke you want to proceed with for the model...here agian you post it with the political joke, so i'm a little confused. I think it is clear to you based on what was said friday and the comments above that the next step is to get into the detail of what the bed is. what happens on this construction, what happens beneath it, what is left on it. I think its important to consider what you have built in a more conceptual sense. The cross that might have been above the bed, the two falling in to each other is a very powerful suggestion.. the cross falling, and the church falling as a result of the immorality of its representatives. The choir boys..their vulnerability, were they forced upon this bed? under it? tied to it? I'm not mentioning these things to be crude;I think they're important in how you will think about the bed in terms of what has been left behind by those that have used it. what is the relationship between a priest and a choir boy who is an apprentice in some ways, as opposed to the relationship between pedophile and victim?, what happens when both relationships occur between the same people? there is some kind of collapse- in trust, in sanctity, in purity...
in the diagram you also consider the congregation's responses which lead up to the choir boys... can this be incorporated into the model also?
looking at your model intended for this joke, you have him at a pulpit - the priest stands above the congregation. this speaks of power and authority, and the corruption behind it is critical
