from today - i think that looking up defintions of garden as a base, u can probably go the whole day just finding information that u can add up to your model and diagrams and make them more alive.

associations: riped tomatow, fence, growth, water, blush, embarrassment, fertility, idealism, greenery, anatomy, differences and similarities, foreplay, expressiveness, resultant, affection...this can take forever...try it, and dont hesitate to be a bit more literal.

exploit the language...red, large..well i think Adi said enough..
but also think about thresholds..literal ones between property, temporal ones which imply change, even historic ones that might suggest different ways to read the joke (i.e. feminism, "ripe tomatoe" becoming a derogatory phrase)
Also there was mention of the diagram itself... you might want to be more clear about the divisions and relationships your trying to make in terms of gender and what makes the joke funny. Jeffrey also mentioned that the diagram was not suggestive in terms of space. If you are trying to diagram again, think about how the diagram can be a tool to move forward with, or to work from... designing the model might be easier if the diagram is layered with information. You can then pull from the diagram for the construction..instead of inventing new relationships, you will be able to borrow them from the diagram.

going back to the joke - the word "expose" seems critical : think about gender roles, power, and gaze. i mean, my joke speaks of physical engagement whereas your joke speaks of voyeurism. this is important

the field of the garden - growth and beginnings (Adam & Eve) seduction and betrayal (Jesus is betrayed in Gethsemane)

here are some notes i took during your critiqe. i hope they help:
-look at power relationships
-diagrams don't necessarily lend themselves to spatial ideas right now.
-"pull from the garden" for your space and structure
- door=fence? give us some connotation relating the structure to the garden - think about growth
- what goes on in a garden - reincarnation, death, deception, growth, incarnation, revealing, betrayal, concealing
- little bit of research on gardens and their history might be helpful
