i think the saw dust is one of the most precise observations, its realtion to wood, deterioration of one self or fantasy...
also the idea of something becomes unusable through its usage...psycological challenge...

theory of entropy - wasting

refer to Critique of Cynical Reason
for what you're trying to convey about morality

first off:
i want to say that i really like your project.
second is my insight:
if the opaque parts of your screen could be semi-transparent how interessting the notion of fading would become... because as the screen is collapsed you can see the person get more and more faded into nothing, just leaving traces of his own immorality. morals are funny things, because anytime you address morality- you have to address the larger bundle of thoughts that go along with sexual immorality and innocence.
Please consider the violence as well of sanding. its a pretty fucking painful experience if you have ever accidentally sanded yourself. so at what point do we reach the threshold that breaks innocence to sexual deviation? i think that flip is pretty important if youre going to go from the philophical perspective.

thirdly:
Chaos theory [entropy] and [also to add to that] Theory of conservation.... mmmmmmmmmmmmm- I love BOTH of those theories. more than Homer Simpson likes donuts.

as you make this piece,
you will be 'sanding'...
consider the importance of your role as maker in this process.

perhaps the presence of pinnichio is purly thru wood joinery...as his body was built.

you were already doing this i know...with the hinges...maybe more...

I have been thinking about how to reaffirm my concept in the details of the build but i also dont want to fragment it to the point where it loses clarity. I am working on getting the fragmented portions of the screen to operate by push, pull, stroke of the user.Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Also i have been thinkinga bout materiality.. for example, where the trace of the original panel appears in the fllowing ones, i was thinking about venitian plaster as a coating on wood..because of its density (similar to bone), it could be flesh-toned, it reveals the hand of the 'maker', and there can be nuance impressed in it or left behind, like traces of marionette strings, or hairs from the puppet, or fingernails..
i also thought about monique's suggestion of translucency..i think that would also work, but i am not sure if i want to start to lost the clarity of the specific parts of the body that I am allowing to be revealed. I suppose that if you could only read a shadow in the trace it might be nice. I am trying to reconsider the screen as it is folded and opened as a ritual.. opening it would reveal each panel (and the story), but it would be allowing for privacy, separation, division.... inverse operation, performance
